The decision has been made for a third runway at Heathrow. The Parish Council will remain vigilent and liaise closely with action groups including GACC.
Following the initial public consultation the Airports Commission published their further consultation on three proposals for a new runway at either Gatwick(1) or Heathrow(2). This forms several consultation papers each of which are hundreds of pages long. The Council will study the documents to gain a better understanding of what is proposed in respect of Gatwick Airport.
The Parish Council have reviewed the consultation documents on the proposal for a second runway at London Gatwick in detail.
We also seeked the views of our residents by submitting a questionaire to each household
We received 80 responses (6%) to the questionnaire distributed. The results received were 64 against, 8 were for the proposal and 8 were not sure. Main reasons against were for noise, traffic/ rail capacity infrastructure, air pollution, further housing and local services such as hospitals and schools not being able to cope.
